Getting into the Industry?

I got laided off this week and thinking of changing careers.

I am thinking of getting into the leak detection business but I cannot find any local training or classes, I not even sure if they are offered here.
I am in Huntington Beach, Ca. and thinking of relocating to Arizona where I would start up. I have friends there who are pool techs.
After reading up on this for a couples weeks I can see this is a very specialty art and want to do it right.

I found training in Florida and Dallas but would like to do it locally to keep cost down. Or should I go to work for someone for a while and learn the trade? Or is that bad Carma? I would relocate as not to compete with them after helping to train me. I'm really not a snake like that.

Also equipment- Which ones and how much did you pros start with. I know you old timers just used a bottle of dye.

Any help/feedback would be appreciated.

I'm in Arizona. What was your career before you got laided off this week?
You would be competiting with me if you moved here.
That would be bad Carma. :(
Just kidding but don't leave Huntington Beach unless you have to.
There are about 10 leak detection companies here...all good ones.

Just curious.....

If you are just thinking about getting into the business, and, I assume, you have not yet purchased any of the Anderson Leak Detection equipment, how is it that you are able to get access to and post on this forum?

Perhaps you should consider becoming a computer programmer.

Your post indicates your disappointment at the perceived lack of help in answering your original post about training for a new career in leak detection.
The short answer I have is that you should avail yourself of as much training as you can wherever and whenever you can. Maybe you could intern with a company in Orange County. There are many there that I know of.
In any event if you find you enjoy the trade then you will be fortunate that you can look forward to each day of solving your customers leak problems and making a decent living doing something you enjoy.
Good luck and God Bless

training where?

You mentioned you found training in Florida? Where? I'm in Florida and am always looking to pick up a few more tips and network with others in the field.
