Dual Skimmers

Afternoon all.

I tested a pool earlier today with 2 skimmers @ the deep end. Liner pool, FYI.

Pressure is not holding on either skimmer as best as I can figure. I plugged off the skimmer not being tested & closed the ball valve. So, I figure there is a leal at some point between the skimmers & the ball valve at the pool pump. Is this thinking right ?

Also, I had an old timer tell me years ago, that if the pool is empty, which this one is, and there is water in the skimmer(s), the skimmer(s) are not leaking. Right or wrong from the old guy?

Thanks for ya'lls time,

Dean

Old timers advice sounds right but if skimmers plumbed underneath with 2 90's sending suction line back up to just under deck over to pump they would likely remain full but pipe to pump could have leak.
If I reached this point I would induce gas or water (whatever u use) from a different point like the pump and see if you get same results. So much of the testing is logic and reasoning and if you're not sure at this stage, regroup and start over. Even "old timers" get fooled when assuming. Always question your methods and reason with yourself (if you are alone) that the line you are testing ends up where you think it does.
