Fiberglass pool leak
I have a new one for you. I've installed fiberglass pools for years and I thought that I was fairly familiar with the pros and cons of same.
I had the opportunity to come across a Viking pool, approximately 9 years old with a leak in it. Needless to say, Upon examination of the pool
light I found that the brass conduit fitting rotted off. So being though I am more in favor of replacing the metal light niche with plastic, I used
the SP0607 U light niche. I figured the main problems were solved. What stuck in my mind was the sealant that was original to the installation- it
looked like clear caulking- which if I found that if you barely touched it it would start leaking. Unsually I use either Bostik 920 or 3M urethane
sealant.
A week or so goes by, customer calls back- pool still leaks
so I go back out, and low and behold I found 2-SP1023 feed thru's leaking- same deal, same adhesive- that didn't originally show up an a pressure
test because the plugs that I used were inside the 1 1/2" pipe- behind the feed thru. as well as 2 therapy jets- same.
To make a long story short, out of 8 wall penetrations, ie, returns, light, niche, t-jets- and skimmer- I had to replace 6 because of the
sealant used . I never thought I'd see that ever. Has anybody else run into a similar situation?

Water is a universal solvent. Add low pH and the time factor rapidly increases the chemical reactions to anything it is exposed to.
